Four New Awesome Prepper Gadgets for SummerBrian Neville
Some websites are dangerous. You know those with a bunch of awesome items that you can get sucked in lose a few hours before you know it. Our Wise Prepper Pinterest page is like that for me, and I’ve found another one: Uncrate. Uncrate is a super slick website chock full of fascinating gadgets, and many of them will appeal to preppers. Okay, they are a little pricey, but here are some of our favorites:
Hanebrink All-Terrain Bike
This all terrain bike doesn’t come cheap. In fact, at $5,500 it’s a pretty expensive rid. However, this bike is designed for the wilderness. It’s a hybrid electric mountain bike with top of the line components like a carbon fiber post and handlebars and hydraulic disc brakes. This bike will run about an hour on one Lithium-Ion battery or more than five hours with more batteries. In electric mode you can reach speeds of up to 20 MPH – otherwise, you can pedal. If you’ve got the extra cash lying around, get one for everyone in the family. And send a couple our way too!
Surly Moonlander Bike
The fat tires on this bike make fat tire bikes look positively anorexic. I’m talking about “ridiculously wide” 4.7″ tires and 100mm rims. This bike isn’t priced yet, but when it is you’ll be able to put it to good use on rocks, gravel, sand and even snow (!!!). The Moonlander also has cutting edge components made from the most durable, lightweight metals on the planet. If you have to take off fast, this is the way to go.
It looks like a satellite dish but look again. See the cook pot in the middle? This contraption is a solar grill. That’s right. It doesn’t depend on gas, wood or charcoal. This grill heats up fast and the pot is big enough to cook a meal for the whole family. At $249…this is one gadget you can afford!
Joseph Bowen TAD Edition Micro Hatchet
Ah, the Micro Hatchet. Why didn’t we think of that? This hatchet is a little miracle that functions like a small knife for cooking, cutting and other small jobs but can also kick it up a notch as a hatchet. Even though it’s small and portable, it has a chisel-ground CTS-HXP steel blade so it’s fierce enough for anything. And, it comes with a sheath that hangs around your neck so it’s nearby when you need it. You may not be able to swing the $5,500 bicycle but at $160 you might be able to swing this all-purpose tool.
